A Modern Romeo

ROMeo

As Meg said to Hercules as she lay dying in his arms; People do crazy things when they’re in love. Love can take many beautiful forms but also has many darker manifestations. One of them is unhealthy obsession. This poem takes us into a troubled young lover’s mind. We would call him a stalker but he sees himself as a tragic hero. He’s definitely a stalker though. It’s gross.

A Modern Romeo

I took a look, it was decided
I found out where you resided
Passively displaying all my feelings
Dodgy dealings with the man across the road
To use his room, camera in hand

I have books
Of all your looks
Eating, sleeping, waking, weeping
Up the fire escape I’m creeping

And though we’ve never met
I’ll not forget the things we’ve shared
The memories
The sights, the sounds, the scents
My mind invents

I knock on your door
A prepared script
I hope you know how it goes
A modern Romeo

But I’m tight lipped when you answer
All I can do…

Is vomit on your shoes

What? Oh, Uh... I'm just carrying out a localised ornithological survey
